Conditions of Use
By booking our boat for usage, either online or over the phone, the Renter agrees to the following conditions:
The boat shall not be operated by anyone other than the Renter or other approved operators. Each operator must complete a rental agreement.
The Renter shall comply with all federal, state, and local laws regarding operation and safety.
A Vermont boaters (or other NASBLA approved) safety certificate or boating license is required.
No alcohol or drugs may be consumed by the operator of the vessel.
The boat may not be used after dark.
Pets are not allowed.
Life jackets must be worn as required by law.
The Renter assumes full responsibility for any damage, loss, or injury.
The Renter agrees to allow Vermont Boat Rental to charge the Renter for all damages, losses and injuries using the same method of payment that is used to purchase the boat rental.
If the Renter causes damage to the boat and the boat becomes unavailable for any future reservations, the renter agrees to pay for the cost of all cancelled reservations using the same method of payment that is used to purchase the boat rental.
ABSOLUTELY NO BEACHING OF BOATS.
NO LEAVING BOAT UNATTENDED AT ANCHOR.
The Renter will not use the boat within 600ft of any shoreline. The Renter will keep a 600ft distance from any shoreline while operating the boat.
All rentals include life jackets, lake charts, emergency bag, flotation cushion, and other safety gear as applicable. A marina crew member will orient Rental Boaters to the boat & equipment as well as the Lake charts at the start of the rental.
Customer will be responsible for any loss or damage to equipment. Customer is responsible for returning all equipment on boat and in boat lockers and will be charged accordingly for missing or damaged equipment, INCLUDING DAMAGE TO PROPELLER. SECURITY DEPOSIT OF $500 is required on all boats to cover minor damage and/or loss of equipment. Renter is responsible for FULL cost of damages to boat, which may exceed security deposit.
All boats are equipped with GPS trackers, and an in-line fuel meter to measure the gas that you use during your outing.
Boats are required to stay within a designated boating area limit on the lake (reviewed at check out) and available online at https://www.vtboatrental.com/lake-limits-map. Any boats going beyond this area will have an alarm go off in the boat and Vermont Boat Rental will be notified. Failure to return to the designated area could result in a $300 charge.
Customer will not drive the boat at full throttle or exceed 38mph.
Customer will return the vessel by the end of their reservation period. Failure to return the boat may result in a $150 late fee. If a failure to return the boat on time results in the loss of any other reservations, the customer agrees to pay for any and all reservations that become cancelled or lost.
A standard cleaning is included in every rental to cover routine cleaning and sanitization of the vessel after normal use.
Excessive Cleaning Fee. If the boat is returned in a condition that requires excessive cleaning beyond routine procedures, an additional cleaning fee of up to $50 may be charged. This includes, but is not limited to:
Presence of food or beverage spills
Mud, sand, or debris accumulation
Trash left onboard
Stains from sunscreen, oil, or other substances
Unusual odors (e.g., from smoking, which is prohibited)
Excessive hair from any pets
Prohibited Substances. The following are strictly prohibited onboard:
Smoking of any kind
Pets without prior approval
Glass containers
Open flame cooking or grilling
Violations of these rules may result in additional cleaning or damage fees and possible forfeiture of the security deposit.
Customer Responsibility
We ask all renters to:
Remove all personal belongings and trash before returning the boat
Wipe down surfaces if spills occur
Notify us immediately of any accidental damage or excessive messes
We appreciate your cooperation in helping us keep our vessels in excellent condition for all renters.
Liability and Insurance
The Renter agrees to indemnify and hold harmless Vermont Boat Rental, LLC from any and all claims, damages, or expenses arising from use of the boat.
Renter is not covered under the company’s insurance policy.
Renter is encouraged to carry their own liability insurance which will be available after making the reservation.
Participant/Renter acknowledges and agrees, that he/she understands the nature of power boating activities, and is qualified, and in good physical and mental condition to participate in said activity, and agrees to waive all responsibilities to Vermont Boat Rental Instructor and Vermont Boat Rental LLC concerning any consequences that would result from his / her actions.
Participant/Renter acknowledges that participation in any boat training activity, whether completed or not, in no way guarantees participant skill level or performance of boating activity in the future, and furthermore agrees that the Vermont Boat Rental Instructor and Vermont Boat Rental LLC is not liable for current or any future boating actions or incidents of said participant.
Participant/Renter assumes full responsibility for any loss or damage that may come to any person, boat, equipment, dock, or other property as the result of his / her improper use, negligence, violation of the rules, or other actions which he /she may take or fail to take in conjunction with the instructions provided.
Participant/Renter has been advised that they should not drive boats within 600 feet (two football fields length) of shore or any floating buoy or marker on the lake. If the participant/renter choses to approach a beach they must first be aware of the lake depth levels, underwater ridges, or other obstructions by consulting a depth chart to determine if the route is safe. Participant/Renter understands that relying on a depth finder is not advised while underway as it only indicates depth immediately below the boat. Furthermore, the cost of repair for any damage caused as a result of the Participants/Renters negligence will be the responsibility of the Renter. Renters insurance is advised and has been offered at time of reservation.
Participant/Renter holds harmless and releases from any liability Vermont Boat Rental and its associates for training or boater advice provided to the boat renter.
Security Deposit & Damages
Any damage to the boat or equipment will be deducted from the security deposit.
If damage exceeds the deposit, the Renter is responsible for the additional amount.
Cancellations & Refunds
Cancellations made 7 days or more prior to a reservation will be refunded in full minus processing fees.
Cancellations made anytime between 7 and 2 days before a reservation will be refunded at 50% minus processing fees.
Cancellations made 2 days or less prior to a reservation will not be refunded.
If you need to cancel your reservation for any reason, please make sure to do so 7 days before your reservation.
Please check the weather forecast 3 days before your reservation.
If We Cancel Your Reservation
If we have to cancel your reservation for any reason (including dangerous weather, equipment failure, etc) your deposit will be credited in full for a future reservation of your choosing. Please note that rain is not a cause for cancellation. Reservations are rain-or-shine.
Thunder, lightning, and high winds are causes for cancellation
Reservation Protection
You will have the option to purchase “reservation protection” from a third-party who can provide a 100% refund of your reservation deposit for covered reasons. This is not “cancel for any reason” insurance. Please read their terms and conditions.
This optional service is between you and the provider.
